Executive Summary
After severe flooding damaged 31 naval facilities in southwestern Tennessee in 2010, the U.S. Navy called on Fluor for immediate help.
More than 14 inches of rain and a levee breach caused flooding damage to every structure at the Millington Navy site, suspending all nonessential government work.
Within 24 hours, Fluor personnel were on the ground in Millington, assessing damage and planning the recovery. Over the next several months, we repaired the flood-damaged buildings, making them once again safe to occupy and allowing the Navy to get back to business.
Client's Challenge
All nonessential business came to a halt after severe flooding damaged 31 Navy facilities in Millington, Tennessee.
The initial assessment found dangerous “black water,” floodwater contaminated with human and animal waste, throughout the site. We found buildings with standing water ranging from a half inch to 55 inches deep.
The Navy needed the buildings back open for business as soon as possible, and called on Fluor.
Fluor's Solution
We put an emergency response team on the ground within 24 hours. With more than 250 workers, 10 generators, 1,000 air drying fans and prior experience responding to emergencies for government customers, we stopped the spread of mold, dried the buildings and repaired the damage.
Conclusion
Our response put the Navy back in its facilities without delays, allowing our client to get back to business as soon as possible.
